Therapeutic  Massage

Relieve tension built up in muscles with a deep tissue massage. The therapist works out knots and tension-filled areas to promote muscle conditioning and repair. Pressure can be adjusted throughout the massage to suit your comfort level. After the massage, you'll enjoy total body relaxation and a rejuvenated feeling. A consultation is recommended, as with any massage.

Heat from basalt stones penetrates deeply into muscles during this therapeutic massage. Firmer pressure can be applied easier with the smooth stones for the removal of knots and tension in muscles. At the end, hot stones are laid along the spine and between toes. A hot stone facial massage can also be included, upon request.

Reflexology is a form of bodywork that focuses on stimulating the nerve endings, or reflex points, on the feet. It is primarily performed on the feet, but can also be done on the hands. This practice has been around for thousands of years, used mainly in India and China as a therapy to relieve pain. In the 1900s, Dr. William Fitzgerald introduced reflexology to other parts of the world and later refined it into today's reflexology techniques.

The theory of reflexology is that by applying pressure to the sole of the foot, to reflex points which correspond to organs, glands, and other parts of the body, it will help reduce pain and balance the body more naturally. Reflexology has been used as an alternative therapy and a compliment to modern medical practices to help promote relaxation, reduce pain, reduce blood pressure, improve circulation, ease depression and anxiety, and encourage overall healing. In spa or body care centers, reflexology is an advanced treatment for mainly relaxation and the soothing of tired feet.

A typical treatment session lasts 30 or 60 minutes. Clients remain fully clothed, removing only socks and shoes, and are seated in a comfortable, reclined position. A warm foot soak is sometimes added before the treatment.

30 Minutes: $40.00
60 Minutes: $60.00

Benefits of Massage Therapy

By Cori, Licensed Massage Therapist & Certified Reflexologist

"A massage is known for its relaxation benefits, but not many of us consider the health benefits attained with regular massage therapy treatments for the body. It  is more than relief for tired muscles or a need to unwind and is much more than a special gift for a birthday or an anniversary."

"Massage Therapy can increase circulation throughout the body, allowing for more oxygen and nutrients to be pumped into the tissues and vital organs. With better circulation of the blood, the lymph system increases your body's natural defenses against toxins, and improves the condition of the body's largest organ - your skin."

"Theraputic massage can often relieve anxiety and depression. Regular treatments are known to reduce cortisol levels, which are the stress hormones we release when anxious. The benefits of this stress hormone reduction include putting you in a better mood, lowering your blood pressure, and boosting your levels of serotonin and dopamine, which also help with depression. Massage can improve the quality of your sleep as well. Who doesn't need that?"

"Massage can ease the discomfort of arthritis, an inflammation of the joints most of us deal with as we age. By stimulating circulation, our body's fluids become more buoyant, easing pain in all of our joints and limbs. It is also proven to help with symptoms of PMS."

"For the fitness fanatics, or those of us who regularly exercise, work out, do yoga, or are into performance sports, massage therapy can help you get ready to work out at your best level. It will also help your muscles recover from over-exertion after your workout or sporting event."

"Massage isn't just pampering—it's an investment in your health and wellness. When you commit to treatments at regular intervals (I recommend every four to six weeks), the benefits to your health increase, creating a better quality of life. The sooner you start the better you will feel."
